Representative Sean Kelliher is no stranger to seeing workers mistreated in the workplace; Sean worked as a shuttle driver and maintenance worker as he worked his way through college; he also worked for a period of time at an Amazon facility scanning boxes & loading trucks – he is no stranger to hard work or realizing firsthand how he and his co-workers were treated by employers in some o the same types of jobs our Local 2013 members work in today. He also knows what it takes to chase a dream and to do better through Organized/Collective Action.
Sean Kelliher was hired in early 2023 as a Union Representative Trainee and excelled at a quick pace because he brought those same work and life experiences to the job that we all face in the workplace each-and-every day. Sean has pushed to motivate the Members in the shops assigned to him and has conducted many one-on-one member meetings to help them understand their contracts as well as enforcing the terms and conditions of the CBA’s assigned to him.
Representative Kelliher has moved through his training quickly and easily and already possesses skills beyond his years, which has already proven time and again that Local 2013 members are in good hands when he is assisting them with their contractual issues. He studies his Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA’s) with the same intensity he applied to his own life experiences to make sure that the employers of those companies adhere to and live up to their own responsibilities under those CBA’s and in doing so Sean has been easily able to identify where employers have violated procedural rules or terms and conditions of employment that impacted our members. Sean has also been heavily involved in the development of updating our Shop Steward Training Program which by all accounts has been very well received and appreciated by the Stewards who have attended the training.
Sean promotes solidarity within the bargaining unit members: “A solid Union IS the workers power – you must be willing to fight for the person standing next to you… THAT is what being a UNION MEMBER is all about”!
