Bargaining Director Jill Pitman has been a Union member for 23 years; she began her career working for the Department of Public Works in Berkley Township, as part of a Teamsters Local Union. In 2002, Jill was elected as a Shop Steward by her co-workers and excelled in that role until she was hired as a Business Agent by her local union in 2006.
During those years working for the local as a Business Agent, Jill worked hard to hone and develop her skills in various aspects of union representation, including handling grievances and participating in contract negotiations for members in both the public and private sectors. Over time, Jill pushed those skills forward and became a lead negotiator within her Local.
In 2020, Jill plied for an open position and was hired to fill the role in UFCW Local 2013 as the Director of Collective Bargaining. As Bargaining Director for our Local Union, she has worked hard to deeply understand the challenges involved in securing strong union contracts in the diverse collection of industries we represent and is committed to defending the needs of members against employer greed.
As she puts it: “Bargaining is tough but having members at the table ensures they have a voice, and it helps to get the best outcome in negotiations.” Director Pitman encourages EVERY member to show interest and solidarity by speaking with their Union Representative about participating as a bargaining committee member during negotiations of their shop’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) because Member participation is key to achieving better wages and improved working conditions for themselves and their union Brothers & Sisters of Local 2013.
