Representative Kevin Myrick has been a Union member since 2003; Kevin began working as a Driver for one of the local Union’s shops in the Food Service Industry. Kevin became active in the Union by attending Union meetings, exhibiting a desire to help his co-workers understand their rights under the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Kevin later became a Shop Steward where he assisted his brothers & sisters at his shop in the day-to-day contract enforcement under the terms of the CBA.
Kevin was hired into UFCW Local 2013 as a Union Representative Trainee in February of 2013 where he trained and worked to expand his knowledge and experience representing Union Members across a wide range of industries. His previous role as a Union Shop Steward helped Kevin to understand the basics and excel in the greater responsibilities that come with being a Union Representative.
In his current role, Representative Myrick is involved in Grievance handling and Conflict Resolution, where he has worked to resolve issues under the CBA at the earliest possible stages. He has participated in various organizing and bargaining training courses conducted both internally within the Local & International Union as well as some sponsored by the AFL-CIO in order to expand his skill set, enabling him to routinely participate in bargaining of the contracts assigned to him along with the Director of Collective Bargaining. Kevin has participated in both Mediation and Arbitration hearings on behalf of affected members in protecting their rights under the terms & conditions of their Union Contracts as well as assisting the Local Leadership in its efforts to strengthen its Shop Steward Training Program.
